NewsIggy Pop leads mass stage invasion in LeedsIggy Pop and The Stooges closed out the 'Rock The House' bash in Leeds last night (August 31) with a rapturously received set - and a massive stage invasion. Following support from The Horrors, Sons & Daughters, The Sunshine Underground and Scottish rockers Idlewild, The Stooges took to the stage and ripped through a selection of classics 'I Wanna Be Your Dog' and newer material such as 'Skull Ring'. The highlight was 'No Fun', during which Iggy invited the whole crowd up onstage - shouting at the security to 'Let them up!', as he did at Glastonbury earlier this year. By the end of the first chorus, a lucky few had dared to make their way onstage but numbers quickly swelled as more crowd members vaulted the barriers. Just when it look like things were about to get out of hand, the punk rock legend to charge of the situation, ordering the crowd to disperse as the final notes of the song rang out. Amazingly the stage cleared within minutes, and the band were able to continue their set. The Thrills announce US release of 'Teenager' The Thrills are gearing up for the release of their third album 'Teenager', set for release on October 23. The album is the follow-up to 2004's 'Let's Bottle Bohemia', and was recorded at The Warehouse in Vancouver, Canada with producer Tony Hoffer, who worked with the band on their debut 'So Much For The City'. "We were definitely striving for a new standard," says frontman Conor Deasy. "It is a record about adolescence, but it's also a record about leaving it behind." According to guitarist/bassist Padraic McMahon the record is "not nostalgic or unduly sentimental. It's looking back and realizing how you've moved on." |
